Cuckoo Clocks: A Brief History; Until the early 1600's, time telling devises in Germany consisted of sundials and hourglasses. All of that changed in 1630, when a man named Franz Kettler from Triberg, Germany went to what exactly is now the Czech Republic, and brought back the concept of a clock. It was a uncomplicated style, referred to as a wooden beam clock, and had wooden gears and stones as weights. What is the moral and polite response when a gay guy buys you a drink in a bar, and your not gay?
I was in a out of town bar with a co-worker when the bartender puts another Coors light in front of me. At first, I was expecting some hot lady sending it my way, but found out it was from a guy at the end of the bar.
Not to be rude, I waved thank you to him. He must have taken this as a sign to come over and moved down the bar. He was a decent enough guy and all, clean and proper looking. I thanked him, told him I was 1-not gay, and 2- married ( it seemed more important that way )
I offered to pay for the drink, or buy him what he was drinking to compensate for it. He excused himself and moved on.
My friend, who I now have to by drinks for for the rest of my life to keep his mouth shut, said I should have at least danced with him once.
Now I have a complex about possibly looking gay. I am however happy he chose me over my friend.
Was this handled properly?
It was not a gay bar, or if it was , it was cleverly disguised. There were plenty of women there.
So just for the record JOE C is a ignorant c*nt.
No you seriously handled that really wonderful considering most men wouldnt have been that courteous.
Its really not that bog of a deal and i really dont think the situation could have been handled any better.
As for being worried you "look" gay. This just means to me, that your apparently really well dressed and clean cut. Thats nothing to be ashamed of. My husband would have bragged about it to me.
No worries. I only wish that there was more people out there who could handle situations more dignified like your example.
Clocks would be made within the winter, and within the spring, clock salesmen (Uhrschleppers) would take them all over Europe. In 1712, Friedrich Dilger went to France to study clock creating, and brought back to Germany a wealth of new tips. Soon soon after, clocks became quite elaborate, and had been normally decorated with moving figures for example roosters crowing and individuals dancing. "Time is gold" as the saying goes and so are clocks like the Bar Sign Light you may see on this page. The value of time imprinted on the clocks developed.
In 1738, Anton Ketterer added a cuckoo bird to his clocks, and notion rapidly spread. Cuckoo clock producing became a extremely specialized craft with diverse artisans making distinctive parts of the clock. A pendulum was now utilized rather than the old technique, and new innovations were generally taking location. Styles of Cuckoo Clocks Every clock had its own special design, but specific simple styles emerged. By the mid 1800's, two styles predominated: the framed clock along with the railway house. The framed clock consisted of a wooden frame and painted inner section where the clock face could be attached. It was frequently painted with Black Forest scenes and had the cuckoo located inside the upper section of the clock. The railway home design was shaped like a home and was frequently decorated with grape vines, ivy, flowers, or animals.
