Numerous of us have fond childhood memories of a unique cuckoo clock, possibly at a grandparent's home, or even in our own. My apartment refrigerator is emitting a loud humming noise after a power outage?
There was just a brownout in my apartment a few hours ago, long enough for the televisions and clocks to get reset. When the power came back on, my ancient fridge started making a SUPER loud humming noise. . .kind of like a lightsaber, honestly. I looked in there, saw no jedi battles going on, so I figure it has to be an issue with the fridge.
Judging by the incredibly stylish faux-wood handles and off-white coloring, I'm going to say that this fridge is from the early 80's, and it's a General Electric, if that's any help. I know that a breakdown is probably imminent--I've prepared myself for that--I just want to know that I can go to sleep tonight without worrying about the fridge bursting into flames while I slumber or anything fun like that. Thanks!
Hi Casey usually with brown outs it will always put a huge strain on fridges and air conditioners. If you fridge is that old chances are that the com presser was damaged.
If you can unplug it just to be on the safe side, if your not going to have a lot of food spoilage. Or you can have your apt. maintenance person come check it out you may just get a new fridge out of situation.
Feel free to email me with any other questions or concerns.
Hope this helps.
