Buying new parts is not cheap, no matter where you buy them. You might want to consider the clock parts section at eBay. When we are working on a vintage clock we generally look there for parts and movements. Because of the precision needed in clock parts, making them from scratch requires special equipment. Milling gears does require having the proper equipment. You cannot make them accurate enough with hand tools.
