Why does it take my eyes ages to bring something into focus?
A few months ago I went to the opticians. She said I had a prescription, but It's up to me if I want glasses or not. (It wasn't too bad so I decided not to get glasses).
She told me I'm slightly short-sighted in my left eye, but my right eye is fine.
I'm not sure if it's possible that it's got worse by then? How long does it take for eyesight to deteriorate?
Anyway, whenever I look at something in the distance, it always takes a few seconds to bring it into focus (if I can at all) and I'm wondering what the reason is for this delay?
Also, I'm struggling to read the TV guide, or any text that is made up of lights. (e.g a digital clock, neon sign, etc...) Why is this?
Do you think I should get glasses? Will my left eye get worse if I don't? At school I can read the board, but it takes me a while to refocus all the time...

If your in the USA an optician is not the right person to go to for a thorough eye exam. Most optician offices are owned by or employ and optometrist, so hopefully that is who examined your eyes. If the eye doc did not put drops in your eyes, my guess is you only saw an optician and you were right in not filling the script. You need to see an ophthalmologist or optometrist for a comprehensive dilated exam. You appear to be have a light perception problem. If you are a young teen your eyes could get worse within a few months, but it should not have deteriorated to the extent that your post indicates. Your vision usually stabilizes in your early to mid-twenties, give or take a few years. Ask your parents to schedule another eye with an optometrist or ophthalmologist and make sure to tell the Doctor about your focusing and light perception problems.
